HISTORY
Genty Parkway Youth Center was established in 1997 and in 2007, the name changed to Greater Purpose Youth Center. We endeavor to have a greater impact on the children of our community as a whole, and to serve as a social outlet for youth, regardless of race or religion. We promote a safe, secure drug and alcohol free environment for social activities and provide life long learning through social, spiritual and recreational activities. It is our goal to get all youth involved in the center to provide positive reinforcement for them to stay in school and lead productive lives.
Greater Purpose Youth Center provides programs to enhance educational, recreational and spiritual development. Programs and activities are posted in the monthly newsletter available at the center or by mail.
The programs offered include:
AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS
SPECIAL PROGRAMS
Left-Behind Program targets the specific needs of the children of incarcerated parents by providing support options and mentors that refocus children's attention on their future, not their parents past.
Youth Entrepreneur Program provides teens with the training and supervision to design and manage their own micro-enterprise and also instill in them a sense of purpose and control over their lives.
Youth & Service provides the chance to know they are useful by giving them the opportunity to affect change, thereby, having power to make a difference in their school, their community and their world! The provides youth with the vehicle for self-confidence, motivation, and self-esteem. This program will also help youth develop social and life skills to help them achieve their full potential.
Drug-Free Youth Sports is a program that redirects "at-risk" youth away from harmful lifestyles while providing a safe, non-violent environment to grow and develop. To help them learn the fundamentals and strategies of the game, also to promote physical activity for youth who do not traditionally engage in sports.

Greater Purpose Youth Center after school and summer programs enables us to see first hand the excitement on a childs face when they've made their first 100 on a spelling test or when they've made their first basket in a basketball game. The reward is priceless!!!!! 3.
